My car initially died while slowing down for a stop light, all the dashboard lights came on and car started coasting, took it to the mechanic, he said it was the timing belt, we replaced it, car ran and started up for about a week then did the exact same thing, died again while I was driving through a neighborhood about to come to a stop.
Does anybody know what the problem could be, the mechanic says replace the engine but I don't believe that and I don't believe there was anything wrong with the timing belt either. What I find most perplexing is how could the car start up and run fine for a week then start having the same issue? Also I noticed after picking it up from the mechanic the gear would get stuck in park, especially on a hill, the only way to get it out was to use the master key in the shift unlock or turn the car off and restart it. Also something was up with the brakes, when I would be at a stop light pressing on the brake the car would still be slightly moving which made me press down harder on the brake, then one night I was driving and the check engine light started blinking then stopped. Does anyone have any idea what the issue could be? Please.......Help!
