Long story short, I slammed my knee against basically concrete. I hit it really hard, actually. I didn't think anything of it, so the rest of the day, I was walking/running on it like normal. When I got home, though, it was swollen and bruised. It's been like this for 2-3 days, and it hurts when I put pressure on it or when I walk/run in a certain way. What could be wrong? I've iced it and taken medication and wore a brace, nothing seems to work? And the swelling won't go down?
Wow, okay. I meant could it simply be bruised or more than that? Fracture? Idk!
Sorry about your knee! You've probably fractured your knee cap (patella), but it isn't that bad, it most likely wont require surgery to fix them, based on the details.
Knee injuries can be very serious, so it would be best to go to an orthopedic surgeon (aka knee/ bone doctor) (don't let the word "surgeon" fool you, there may not even be surgery involved) or just go to your family doctor. Your doctor will probably just recommend you see an orthopedic surgeon anyways, so I'd skip that step and just go see an orthopedist.
Hope your knee gets better!
